Stamford Bridge is a small yet popular village in the East Riding of Yorkshire. The village has a self-sufficient centre with an estate agent, post office, general store, solicitor, newsagent, baker, butcher, and pharmacy. A doctor's surgery, dental practice and veterinary, along with some gift and specialty shops.

The tall viaduct once carried trains across the River Derwent on their way from York to Beverley. It is now part of a traffic-free cycle path which is popular for cycling and walking. The area has many signposted public footpaths along the river which offer scenic walks to Low Catton and Buttercrambe.

With its 16th century corn mill and 18th century stone bridge, Stamford Bridge is an ancient crossing point of the picturesque River Derwent. The Roman’s established a fort here in 70 AD and in 1066 on September 25th the Battle of Stamford Bridge heralding the end of the Viking era in Britain; the historic names of the epic battle live on in street names including Harold, Hardrada and Tostig.
